The talk presents the fundamentals and design algorithms of fuzzy rule-based models. Rules-based models exhibit evident advantages with regard to knowledge representation and knowledge interpretation. The processing benefits of rules associated with a modular character of rule-based models are identified. A detailed taxonomy of rule-based architectures along with the two key categories of relational and functional rule-based models is outlined. The main design phases are discussed and provided with the detailed steps presenting a way in which knowledge acquisition is realized including expert-based and data-based ways of knowledge elicitation. The key functional modules, namely encoding- processing-decoding are discussed and analyzed with respect to ensuing analytical numeric input-output relationships and their nonlinear character. The interpretability facet of the rules is investigated and quality of rules in terms of the coverage-specificity requirements is assessed. Recent design trends are discussed. 报告人简历:Witold Pedrycz (IEEE Fellow, 1998) is Professor and Canada Research Chair (CRC) in Computational Intelligence in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, University of Alberta, Edmonton, Canada.
